Neuro-affirming, trauma-informed psychology for adults in Melbourne

The Untangled Mind Body is a Melbourne-based psychology practice offering thoughtful, collaborative support for adults navigating ADHD, anxiety, burnout, and major life transitions.

A calm, respectful therapy space where difference is understood and sessions move at your pace.

Welcome

At The Untangled Mind Body, we believe therapy works best when people feel safe, respected, and understood. Our Melbourne-based practice is grounded in neuro-affirming and trauma-informed care, with a focus on collaboration, clarity, and individualised support. Your perspective, preferences, and lived experience are central to the work we do together.

We recognise that people come to therapy for many reasons — and that experiences often overlap. You do not need to have everything figured out, know where to start, or fit neatly into a category to seek support.

Our approach

Our clinicians work in ways that are flexible, thoughtful, and tailored to each person. Therapy may be structured or open-ended, practical or reflective, depending on what feels most helpful.

We value:

  • Safety and choice
  • Working at your pace
  • Respect for lived experience
  • Strengths-based, collaborative care

Neuro-diversity affirming care

We work from the understanding that neurodivergence is a difference, not a deficit. Our practice supports adults with ADHD and other neurodivergent experiences in ways that honour individuality, nervous system needs, and personal strengths.

Support may include working with:

  • Executive functioning challenges
  • Burnout and chronic overwhelm
  • Masking and identity
  • Emotion regulation and self-understanding
  • Sensory sensitivities

You do not need a diagnosis, and there is no expectation to communicate or present in a particular way to therapy.

Areas of support

Our clinicians work with adults across a range of experiences and life stages, including:

  • Anxiety and mood difficulties, including stress, low mood and burnout
  • Adult ADHD, including executive functioning challenges, masking, and sensory overwhelm
  • Reproductive and perinatal mental health, including fertility challenges, assisted reproduction and IVF, pregnancy loss, pre- and postnatal anxiety and depression, and birth trauma
  • Life transition and relationships, including parenting,  identity changes, and interpersonal difficulties
    • Self-worth and performance concerns, including perfectionism, confidence, and general wellbeing at work, study, or daily life

Many people experience concerns that overlap categories. You do not need to fit neatly into one box to access support.

Our team

The Untangled Mind + Body is home to a team of pscyhologists who share a committment to neuro-affirming, trauma-informed care, while bringing different areas of focus and expereince.

We encourage you to explore our team and find a clinician who feels like the right fit for you.

What to expect

Starting therapy can feel unfamiliar, and it’s completely okay to have mixed feelings about it. You might feel nervous, curious, unsure, or even overwhelmed. You won’t be judged — we’re here to support you in a way that feels respectful and genuine.

In your first session, we will take time to understand what’s brought you here and what’s important to you. There’s no pressure to share everything at once — you’re welcome to take your time. This is also your chance to get a feel for how the process works and whether this feels like a safe space to be yourself.

Everyone’s brain works differently, and we know there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Some people like structure, others prefer open conversation. Some prefer visuals or writing things down. We’re happy to adapt sessions to match your communication style and preferences.

Together, you’ll decide on a plan that makes sense for your goals, pace, and needs. Your psychologist will check in regularly to make sure therapy continues to feel useful and supportive. You’re always in control of how things go.
